DJD Obtains $9.7 Million Verdict Against Electric Company and Township

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Law Firm of D’Arcy Johnson Day Obtains $9.7 Million Dollar Jury Verdict (Egg Harbor Township, NJ – February 26, 2014):

On August 29, 2008, while riding his motorcycle on Route 30 in Waterford Township, an Absecon, New Jersey man was severely injured in a collision. Today, after a three week trial, a jury awarded DJD’s client approximately $9.7 million, finding that Waterford Township and Atlantic City Electric Company were largely responsible for the accident due to a sight obstruction at an intersection.

“Due to circumstances that were completely out of our client’s control, a life was changed that day,” said Steven Johnson, one of the D’Arcy Johnson Day partners along with Patrick D’Arcy, who argued the case. “Fortunately, the jury in this case appreciated the severity of our client’s injuries, as well as the accountability of the municipality, and the utility company that contributed to the dangerous condition that day.”

The DJD team tried the case in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Camden County Division, before the Honorable Robert G. Millenky, J.S.C.  The jury deliberated for two days before awarding DJD’s client approximately $9.7 million in damages. The jury found that Waterford Township and Atlantic City Electric Company were primarily responsible for the dangerous condition causing the accident.
